was putting a passwordon my router last night and then coudln't get in after many attempt with what i was sure is the password i used.. i decided its time to reset and start all over.. after resetting however my router would not be picked up by my system.. the damn thing no longer broadcasts any signal whatsoever.. hope i can fix it.. i'm thinking of trying a lan cable when i get home to talk to the router directly and set it back up.

Well, U have the right idea. I'da suggested the same thing - get a cable and connect directly to it and try again. Do a reset (which I think you've done already?) and maybe use a manual IP if it doesn't issue one, then connect to it's automatic IP (the one it defaults to) and see if you can sort it out.

PS - Still no internet yet, just leeching off a friend.

I am back :) it was acting kinda funny at first though. thing wouldn't work unless i had the lan cable plugged into my system and the router.. meaning the wifi wouldn't connect unless the lan cabale was plugged odd but i dunno :dunno.. i restarted and that was that with that problem.. I now have a wep protected netgear router think i might turn on mac filtering too.. the wardrivers in the area are increasing.. i dont want nobody on ma system looking through my files especially my pictures.

well if u wep good then I don't think u have to worry 2 much, but if u like me and just want to lock out ppl @ the highest level, then mac address filter is the way to go

Use 128bit encryption or higher.

haha yea it could you put on a protected crap on that....coz with mind i pick up a number of signals around that i could connect to and when i checked them, they were not password protected....even J2Ltd but i pick up a weak signal form them but i can still connect..
