Nothing brings people together better than a LAN party. However, being that we all have HS Internet (and if you don't I'll hook you up) why don't we have a WAN party. We are all gamers to some degree, and we can all get the games everyone plays. Every regular interval we connect to a partcular server (someone sets up a game server) and we just all get pwned by me.

I think we need a planning committee to consider how this would best be done. Cause WAN is a little harder to control than LAN. Different connection speeds and locations and PC specs can make a big difference. Another consideration is time and date and how many people we are trying to reach.

You have to be in. Besides, there are scores of other ppl's houses that you can play at. As of now it is a pretty close-knit group. Membership is by referral so everyone knows everyone else to atleast two degrees.

I am thinking this can happen december. December is right around the corner. If people want to be updated with all the needed 'equipment' i suggest sharing is caring day be bumped up a notch so that we can all legally share files.

Okay people. So we are working with mid-December. Nobody needs to leave their houses- unless you going to join up with someone. Somebody needs to be server- someone with a strong connection. The technicalities can be worked out.

Hosting of the event on servers doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. Within this group there are atleast 3 different megabit connections.

That brings us to our next issue. When I conceived the WAN party I was thinking a night activity. I need to know from the AS massive whether we prefer the early morning of Dec 17, all day to all night December 17 or All evening, all night into early morning starting from the evening of Deecmber 17.
Or do we want a marathon from early in the morning to late in the next morning. I mean... you have food. And if you sweat a lot your bathroom is two doors down.

Remember that the reason we selected the above four is because everyone is more or less familar with them and can access them easily. Additonally everyone is at least at a system level that can support the four games. We are now in the finalizing stage where we bring it all together- not where we make whole new allocations.

Virus, bear in mind that the problem was that hamachi had a cap of 16ppl. We wanted to test whether we could bridge more than one hamachi networks- which we can.
Hamachi doesn't seem to eat my resources... or maybe I am an exception.
Warchief not connecting is a strange thing. He should have tried the secondary network like I suggested to you Virus. The original testers should have been DK, Warchief, Enigma and myself. I forgot to forward the patch to DK, I didn't see Warchief and Enigma had to uninstall and reinstall the game as well as leech the patch from me.
It was a test people. It means that we know what to expect when the real thing comes.
One thing we can expect is that we can connect everyone who shows up.

I got the patch but it wont isntall, cant find the path. I have it on my d drive in a warcraft folder, someone give me the exact path that it should be located etc please. I really would rather just copying the 1.2 folder from someone asap.

Did you install regular Warcraft and Frozen Throne ISOs or did you copy a program folder. Yatta had to reinstall the game when he received the patch and the nocd crack. Maybe you should do the same. I hope you have the actual cd/cd images though.

He has the patch lex. He got it from some other source. What he needs to do is get the original Warcraft 3 iso/cd.

Okay. This is how I see things now. I now possess Starcraft, BroodWars, Warcraft 3, Frozen Throne and lex has CS 1.6

Which is easier/more attractive:
1) Central persons meet me and get these cds and then distribute them throughout.
2) Create a torrent tracker through AnimeSynergy so I can seed them. Give the files to specific people so they can seed too. Then those without can leech.

I have the cd and the patch (49mb). Tomorrow u can collect it.... @ DK

I"m moving the warcraft folder to programfiles now and then i'm gonna try the patch again. if it doesn't work i'm gonna need that iso, or i'm gonna just copy the folder from one of you guys to my ext hardrive, which should work as well.

copying the folder wont work, i tried it. For the patch to be applied you'll need some files to be in the registry.

I have ut2k4. Cant play it pon mi laptop at all even worse online... not at all. Will need a desktop for that.

I dont think hamachi would bitch with cs. as its almost like running lan cables to a switch and playing in the same rooom but profound would be more able to enlighten you on that. The games, I'm sure you'll be able to get before the party.

Well, CS Source comes with HL2. It isn't/shouldn't be a standalone game.

We can't play CS Source on our thing... too few people meet the requirement. We definately have Broodwars and Frozen Throne though. UT2k4 is getting very iffy. If everybody bought a Steam key (not bootleg) then we could link up on a specially made Steam Server. I want to play CS to pwn Skill. Give us some solutions.

The complete version of CS up to v1.6 was downloadable before Steam came out. Find someone with the file and your set.

The retail version is compatable with downloaded version.

No.. i using steam, apparently u need "steam" to play online. there is a patch... "non-steam" that allows u to play thru lan. I feel when me and blindz were "testing" we were using different... versions if u get what i trying to say.

I had a CounterStrike cd in my closet.. tried the serial and i was on. Now i have access to any server i want.

Hey everybody. Funny story. So I made this DATA Disc for everybody. I burned the first one on a 4x disc and everything went fine. I then decided to do a second disc on an 8x disc and the data wouldn't pass the verification test. Really funny story. So DK, I left the good one on my desk because Lex said he would be seeing you today. I figured you should get the better one. I have the unverified one now waiting for Virus. Who knows, maybe nero was wrong. So lex, give the WAN Disc on my desk to Noivaj or DK.

CS was never going to be on that Disc. And no, I am not up for testing tonight... I work. I specially took the days off for Saturday and the Sunday after the WAN Party because I have much ass to Kick.

People who play CS, like lex and skill... you guys need to tell me what is going on. DK, Virus, Lex, Noivaj and Profound have discs. Enigma also has one. People please just copy and spread... burn slow (4x).

I have been hearing rumours that some persons intend to maliciously exploit hamachi to try to hurt others- I promise you that if anything funny goes down I am going to go to prison for murder. We keeping it clean people.

I just popped on warcarft 1.2 Noivaj and me should be in the hamachi server, i figure warchief will be in as well we'll probably be in around 7 who's up for it..

We have 100 members- I want to have between 16 and 32 members playing warcraft/brood on WAN Party day. More would be great. To date we don't have that many persons confirmed or with the DATA.

I say scour the net for a CS or HL serial get steam and try get on JAGAMERS server.

Migrating to Steam is the better alternative- all hardcore CS people do that. If anybody has the CS 1.6 that came out before Steam (as in just before) then that is worth sharing. Otherwise, if people are not willing to get the Steam we may have to scratch...

To bus gun there are many games. COD: Call of Duty is a good game to bus gun in. I happen to have that and no Steam is needed. The only problem would be sharing.

Blindz, now is the wrong time to decide on new games. We had four games we were going to work with. Two of those games are extremely difficult and I did what I could to make two achievable.

No four wheel action... only bloodshed. Additionally, how many people have the information now? I am hoping the number has tripled since my last count.

About the counter-strike. I did a search using a9.com and came up with this link (http://cs.rin.ru/download-cs16-non-steam-eng.html). There was a non-steam version of CS 1.6. We need to get that. the links on that page don't work but they point to a direction.

As usual, I bring solutions. So, BroodWars, Frozen Throne and CS. This is only our first WAN party- there is time for more in the future- lets make this one count.

Um all those links are duds they lead to a file not found page and tells yout o search for the file on an mp3 site. its a marketing strat for the mp3 site i'ld say.

k really this is getting to the point of me getting annoyed. there has to be a fps game seriosly.. there are alternatives other than cs 1.6 look beyond that boundry steam is difficult to work around I figure another gaem should be used. what about m.o.h.a.a. or which ever game there is that just plays over lan.. thats just my take.. what games are their like this speak quickly we have little time to act.

I just deleted my nixpartition for the 8 gigs of space that i gave to it. so i'll be installing a few games and testing them on hamachi today i dontlike how the wan party seems strictly strat oriented doesn't seem fair to me. there are other types of gamers.

Persons who have the old DATA disc please link me with a new DVD to get the updated disc. That includes you DK... I haven't seen the first DVD from you yet.

New disc comes with a nice little Readme along with three titles. Yes, FPS included.

listen steam is out. nobody has keys and i'm not buying a key to play cs for a night. thats madness move off from cs its too dificult to spread i mean its less than 5 members that are able to play and the nonsteam patch hs yet to be tested.. if you can get that to work cs is live other wise 6 feet under for counter strike

yup we all need CS Keys, i got one thanx to Virus (Respek Mi Bredda) but u can also create a Cracked server and play without steam

CS is getting too complicated, don't have time to figure out RA2. Therefore, unless we get detailed positive reports tomorrow night then CS is officially cancelled. I have Call of Duty and am trying to give it to everybody but you people aren't linking me...

I realize that the party is like strategy oriented alone what about non strat gamers why ad ra2 another strat game to a list of 2 strat games plus a fps that we are not yet sure works

The next one can feature higher graphics games once everybody is on the same wavelength. Still no takers for 2.0. I read on the Hamachi Forum that CS works over hamachi. so who can test this to see if it work. i'm on most of the day as i work from home so i can help to test. all the other games on the CD i would have to learn to play as i only play CS 1.6 now

Thats a Good Question. but we need to know how many ppl playing 1st. If there is too much for 1 game then we have to play on different server (maybe different games) but if games arent full i think we should have a time table. 45 mins for each game. so we can ensure that some ppl play their favorite game @ least once

People, I have no idea how the distribution of these items is going- and that disturbs me. Certain situational factors exist and I am tempted to push back the date a few weeks. We are expected to have a lot of CS people on the 17th but I am concerned that most of the involved parties won't be AS members...

Additionally, CWJ staff party happens to be on the 17th featuring Morgan's Heritage and Renaissance and free alcohol and food.

hmmm, the intricasies of a WAN party, no one would have a problem if they dont have a high speed connection if we were all able to gather in one place... or even if its just kingston ppl in one place WAN linked to mobay people... i dont think this planning has been going well. what no teams have been chosen and we dont start playing around with the members 2 see who good at what and it seems to me this will be necessary as its mostly strat games. i have no probs wid di games virus listed as long as i have my unreal and my cs 2 play as well... and my AS buddies who dont have high speed internet. if we not goin discriminate against those without laptops we should also include those without high speed. nuff said

Im up for unreal 2k4 anytime, CS1.6 is good but you pplz should get counterstike source too. the requirements arent that bad and its a really good game. AVP2 can also deliver some serious fun
