I just put on Vista Transformation Pack 6 (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Vista-Transformation-Pack.shtml) on my computer. Awesome by the way, but the graphics have seriously slowed down my system. I can't play VLC without the processor hitting 100%. Know what unneeded programs I can shut down? My system specs are 1.8 GHZ, 512MB RAM, 8OGB.

http://www.windowsstartup.com/ - get that and check to see what you may or may not need. You may also need to check for virus/spyware.

well there's your answer right there.
transformation packs (and vista too) are quite the cpu/memory hogs

What about the rest of your computer.. i'm sure it doens't run on a processor alone winglord. the processor speed would be nice. check your start up programs and see if they are all necesary.
1. windows key + r
2. msconfig
3. startup tab
4. uncheck what is not needed
5. save exit and reboot.
