Saikano literary translation : She the ultimate weapon or My girlfriend the ultimate weapon
Video / Animation - Odd but interesting. I say this because People didn't really have nose's and maybe that shouldn't matter that much in anime but it seemed kinda strange especially the main chars shuuji and chise.. They didn't seem perfect.. If anybody should be perfectly drawn it should be them as they are the epicenter of this tragic but lovely story. The animation was good though.. didn't mind that just character's them self.
Sound - I loved chise's sound effects, the sound you hear when she flies in / over / around that wolf howl or owl hoot means impending death for the enemy and salvation for the Japanese. Relative to the ost for the anime I didn't get that far, And away from the song shuuji hums there aren't any other songs. Music for bringing the gravity of emotions present at particular scene were well placed.
Re-Watch Value - Its a sad story, but I'll definitely watch it again. For anything that I may have missed. The story is so well written and presented I'm certain it will deliver the same feel when watched for the second time.
Character Development - Relative to the main characters involved in the story this is excellently done. You really felt as if you grew with them. through school, into the war and difficult times japan began to experience. The narration from shuuji's perspective was also well done, Didn't feel slightly biased in anyway.
I really Enjoyed Saikano, I laughed with the characters and felt like I'ld cry with them during their painful times. Definitely Worth the watch. The Series was delivered in 5 dvd volumes and had a follow up of about 3 or 4 OVA's
