In Megaman Battle Network, we are introduced to an alternate universe from the Megaman we've come to know and love as we grew up with him. Instead of a robot who combats the evil machinations of the evil Dr. Wily by fighting evil robots and stealing the weapons of the Robot Masters, we have a sentient computer program who runs around on the Internet busting viruses, running errands and fighting against evil Netmafias.

Pros:
- You get the weapons (as Battlechips) of ordinary enemies as well as the major bosses.
- Weapons can be used in every battle, instead of running out of power and needing to be recharged.
- After a while, you gain access to the Chip Trader machines which let you get rid of chips you have too many of.

Cons:
- Irritating random-encounter system
- Navi chips aren't awarded until you fight the V2 version of the Navi.
- All the upgrades you got in one game will be gone in the sequel >_<
- Wood styles and souls introduced in the sequels require you to be EXACTLY two squares away from your enemy when you attack with a charged shot, so if your enemy is capable of moving forward and backward, or stays in the very back row, you're restrained to chip attacks and uncharged Buster shots.

Now, for the individual reviews:

- Megaman Battle Network 1

The game that started it all, it's also the easiest, since you heal after every battle. You increase your capabilities by finding and purchasing HPMemory and Power-Up items, and by collecting Battlechips. Even when you get access to Higsby's Chip Shop and the Battlechip Traders (which look like bubblegum machines) therein, never trade your last of anything, as there are people scattered around who are looking for certain battlechips and will trade you something special for them. You play as Lan Hikari (Hikari being the Japanese word for "Light") in the real world and as Megaman in the cyber world. Megaman is a Net Navi(gator) created by Lan's father, Dr. Hikari (Get it? Dr. Light!), whose job keeps him away from home. A lot. A lot a lot. Seriously, I wouldn't be a damn bit surprised if Lan's mom was having an affair. It's not like she wouldn't have a selection. Ahem. Anyway, due to the retardedness of people in high places, Lan and Megaman are the ones who must shoulder the responsibility of saving the world from the evil Mr. Wily (another parallel with the original universe) and his fiendish organization called the WWW.

- Megaman Battle Network 2

In this game, we face off against Gospel, a new Netmafia run by somebody other than Wily. We also get to travel to other nations, leaving behind Lan's native Electopia to visit Netopia and Yumland (the latter only by means of the Net). This game takes away the healing after battle thing, and the armors. Introduced are chips with * codes, Style Changes, and Subchips. In this game, we meet Bass/Forte for the first time, but of course not the last.

- Megaman Battle Network 3

This game came in two flavors: Blue and White, which was actually a gimmick to get people to buy two Game Boy Advances and a Game Link cable. WWW's back, causing trouble for our team as they compete in the N1 Grand Prix. The monster to beat here is Alpha, the primative form of the Internet from before the current version (in that world), which achieved awareness. You'd think, being made of the Internet and all, it would have become smarter, but then, Alpha was a big enough pain in the butt as it was. Blue and White have some battlechips and bosses that are mutually exclusive, so you have to downlo...uh, buy both versions if you're one of those who just has to get all the stars.

- Megaman Battle Network 4

Another two-version game, this one comes in Red Sun and Blue Moon. This game introduces a new Netmafia called Nebula, the Dark Chip Syndicate, and forces you to confront the Powah of the Dahk Side. Seriously. You have to fight your own evil self in this, which has access to all of your battlechips in your entire library (not just your current folder), has the same number of hitpoints as you, has all the lovely Navi Customizer parts as you, etc. Immediately after that you are forced to fight an annoying final boss who negates your strongest chips because he doesn't stand on any squares. Yeah. Pain in the butt. Style changes are replaced with Soul Fusions, based apparently on Megaman having mushy feelings for another Navi. >_<

- Megaman Battle Network 5

Wow, they REALLY like this gimmick. The two versions here are Team Protoman and Team Colonel. The theme of Soul Fusion continues here, as does the threat of Nebula and Dark Chips. Here, we get to play with Navis other than Megaman, along with their strengths and weaknesses, as we participate in Liberation Missions throughout the net. In Team Protoman, we join forces with Chaud and recruit other Navis to aid in our quest. In Team Colonel, it's the same thing, except the lead navi is Colonel (whose operator's name escapes me at the moment). Differences between them are that Protoman's charged shot is a Widesword, while Colonel's is an angle-slash thingie. There will be no willy-nilly netbattling of Dex whenever we feel like it, since all our friends' PETs were stolen when the Nebula leader (whose name I won't release due to spoilers for BN4) kidnapped Dr. Hikari.

- Megaman Battle Network 6

Haven't played this one yet, check for updates^_^

Have the InuYasha pic and a couple others. The game I think is on GBA. I didn't like the turn-based fighting. Not accustomed to that for a Megaman game. Good review though.

Yes, it's on GBA (Gameboy Advance if anyone didn't know that). Turn-based fighting doesn't bother me, but then most of what I play are RPGs. Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc. I'm probably the only one who had the song "Blue Moon" stuck in my head the whole week or so I was playing Megaman Battle Network 4 Blue Moon. heheh

Well, I'm more of an RPG player (CT - FF6/7/8/9 - BOF2/3/4 - LOD - etc). My bro plays the MM series, so he'd give a better view of the game. MM in turn based just turned me from the game.

Never played the megaman games, just stuck to RPG games like Champions of Norrath and Dark Alliance.
