View Full Version : Mass Closing of 2006 and older threads.
Shini 09-29-2007, 03:31 AM So as the title said, we're gonna be closing all 2006 and older threads.. even the ones recently revived by spammers.
And after this, mass closing of threads will be done every January and July... or unless we decide to change it to a shorter time period.
And honestly, I dont see any reason for there to be any complaining, cause if them so old.. then obviously they not gonna be missed.
So now that you all know, all those who had started threads back then, youll be getting quite a bit of Closed Threads emails.
And so if there is a thread in which you wanted to post in and it is closed, do feel free to make a New Thread as long as it isnt spam.

PS... if you dont like it.. PM DK... not me, Ill just not respond.
Linkin 09-29-2007, 06:08 AM So wats the point of closing the threads guys? If you say yourself that if some new member wanna talk about a particular topic and recreates a similar thread only to rewrite our comments we made in the previous thread wats really the point. Or you guys just want sumn to close? I disagree with closing the threads. Whos idea was this and why wasn't the rest of the members notified prematurely? Isn't this suppose to be up for debate or sumn? Or it's a "wah mi sah go" type a ting?
death_knight 09-29-2007, 07:09 AM Thats what this is.. the notification about it. you an give your feedback. but the decision kinda already been made.. The dead threads are exactly that. Dead. it caused confusion..
big example was the datteybayo website closed down thread people came to the site today saw it and responded.. it caused people to think the site was closed down like "today" when the thread was created from ages ago because of a joke by dattebayo
Threads like that were the purpose of its creation has long been outlived can be closed down.. no sense having it open to be a house of spam
the older threads from 06 that are inactive are nothing more than potential spam houses.
as you can see from the general gist of what i'm saying. old threads which are active will not be affected only old inactive ones that are being targeted for spam.. as long as the thread remains active it is not up for closure
fear not the anime threads are fine.. most of those remain active. n if someone genuinely wants to discuss something that has already been closed.. he or she may create a new thread. and as long as that remain active it'll be fine. that is? in a year or so we wont have to close that thread.
Example i dont see the naruto or bleach thread being closed down anytime soon. because they are highly active threads. n wont be left for a year or so with no updates.
Linkin 09-29-2007, 07:22 AM Oh yea. I guess thats kool. That thread in particuler was indeed kinda confusing.
Lexlimitless 09-29-2007, 03:20 PM Will the add your story thread be closed? i also realise that every week a new naruto and bleach manga thread opens which corresponds with that weeks issue. will the previous threads be closed each week or so?
Shini 09-29-2007, 03:22 PM Yea, sorry, I should have clarified what I meant by closing the 2006 threads.
Anywho, We've established that we will be closing the manga threads and leave only the latest 2 chapter threads open. eg Bleach 003 and 002.. and close the ones older than them, being Bleach 001.
Because as a chapter comes out, a new thread is created... and the older chapter threads dont get used again.
So far this will only apply to Naruto and Bleach.
For a better explanation.. please PM Death_Knight.

Whoa Lex you read my mind bout the manga threads.
Add Story shouldnt be closed, because its fairly active.
death_knight 09-29-2007, 03:37 PM Yeah. the implementation will not affect anythread that recieve activity. and in all honesty the add your story cant be closed.. I wanna turn that bitch into a manga.. or maybe a short anime film like seriously the story is awesome.. theere were quirky moments in the early days but them most of the writers got serious.
Infidel 09-29-2007, 04:38 PM overloaded inbox -_- but deleting some of these dead threads does make sense, especially to try and stop all the spamming thats been going on lately
Shini 09-29-2007, 04:50 PM Hmm, Im not sure about deleting the old threads... it would make the forum a bit neater.
And my apologies to everyone who is getting the Closed Threads emails.
----
@Linkin: If the new member made a new threads that had already existed, and asked or brought up a point that was already discussed and answered in the old threads... then we'd delete it or merge it with the dead thread, and PM the member and tell them where to go and read.
So unless its an entirely new point or question based on the old threads, there should not be any repeat threads.
Shini 10-08-2007, 06:16 PM Birthday Threads will be closed after the month has gone by.
henderson 10-19-2007, 08:01 PM whats the criteria for the closure of a 2006 thread? cause i still seeing couple of them around the place
Shini 10-20-2007, 12:36 AM You misunderstood... I mean if they havent had activity since 2006.
Unless it was a sticky that I overlooked.
