Hey guys, I was reading the other threads on whose your favourite band etc and didnt really see SOAD up there (system of a down). I usually listen to LP, the killers, greenday but occasionally crank on some system. However, i recently found out they split up! Serj Tankian (lead singer) split up with the group and released his own album. I listened to the song and looked up the lyrics and it was wayyyyyyy too political for my likings. I liked SOAD material, which was good, solid rock music. Anyway, the song is called "empty walls" and I added the link under so if you guys can either support my view or tell me what you think (so i dont feel like i totally don't know what good music is), that will help!

extremely solid band. with tunes like

toxicity, chop suey, lonely day, aerials.. thinking about it every song they do is great. the band rocks i just haven't been listening to them much lately.

yeah, i totally agree with the songs u guys posted up. Those are the good ol' stuff that we enjoy. but he's split now! Heard the new song yet? what do u think of it

System of a down broke up.... when? and why.. lemme guess creative differences right. tired of this bs.. audio slave did the same thing the other day.. lucky thing is that morello's gone back to his old band rage against the machine.. I"m a guitar head so i mainly listened to audio slave for morello's guitar killing.

Where did the SOAD members go to after the break up. other bands? or retired?

well i dont know exactly where the other 2 members went but i heard that they're going in a musical or something? i could be wrong. You guys heard Serj's new song tho? whatya think of it

they havent broke up...just on hiatus. well, thats aka unofficially broken up and giving SOAD a bit of hope. i dont really mind tho...Serj's new album is gonna rock. its getting released on the 27th of october...cant wait! you guys like his new single empty walls?

yeh the song is cool the video a bit odd. but. cool overall.. the big question is how would u differentiate this from soad.. reason he was the vocalist for them so.. technically with the right sound he's soad by him self. :rofl

ok here is my 2 cents on this topic the band first album was hardcore political slander with songs like sue pee and spider back when the lead singer did cocain the second album is like ok the third album pretty much the same 4th album he was geting back his cocheaded ways with songs like cigaro and byob but then he came out withe hypmotize whihc was such a shitty album they had to combin it with the 4 one mezmorized for it to sell @ all the less he did coc the less of a genius he was a mean any one who has lisson to sugar know what the **** i'm talking about on a mass level any way i not tellin people to do coc and u will be ginius but i have seen time and time again where musical ginueses always have a drug proublem and as soon as they get off drug they don't perform up to par that all i saying

it seems like the album flopped hard time

SOAD is pretty good.

I still have their first CD lying around somewhere.

I liked that song by Serj Tankian. I heard that he was going solo from one of my friends, but I guess I'm not big enough of a fan of SOAD to be too disappointed. Besides, it still sounded good to me :P
