Welcome. You will find that even though CN gives you a good idea of what anime is, you shouldn't be watching that. It's better to get your anime online, or watch online, since the CN translations are all messed up. My brother follows closely the YuGiOh differences in the US and Japanese versions. Lots of stuff removed. You'll be directed in the ways.

Welcome mid89.. blood+ is good. I still haven't finished it tho..

Cartoon network is all that some people got, but still you should try to at least rent or watch it on the internet. I used to watch cartoon network when I didn't rent, now I don't have cable, I would watch online, but I got dial up. So I rent when I get a chance. By the way, have a great stay.
