In order to avoid confusion, I thought a listing and explanation of ratings and story codes might be useful. Mods can make this sticky and/or add to it if they want.
Ratings:
G - Totally clean. No violence or sexual situations, harshest language is schoolyard replacements for swear words (darn, shoot, heck, etc.)
PG - "Superhero action" violence, mild language (damn, ass, hell)
PG-13 - "Action" violence without being explicit about it. Simpsons-level language (bitch, bastard, etc.), innuendo, "ecchi moments" and/or strong suggestions of sexual intimacy without showing actual sexual activity.
R - Explicit violence, language (George Carlin's "7 words you can't say on TV"), tasteful "love scene."
NC-17 - Explicit descriptions of sexual situations, non-consentual sex, anything where sex or violence is the focus of the story as opposed to being merely a plot device.
And now for story codes, or content codes, which should be put in the subject line of the post so no one gets surprised or offended. I'm using 2-letter codes since there's a limit on how long the subject can be.
mf - male/female sex or "het"
ff - female/female sex or "yuri"
mm - male/male sex or "yaoi"
vi - violence
co - crossovers (ie, Sailor Moon meets Dragonball Z)
nc - non-consentual sex/rape
mc - mind-control
be - bestiality
cd - canon-character death (a character from the actual anime dies)
oc - contains original characters (characters you made up yourself)
od - original-character death (one of your oc's dies)
fu - "furries" - animal-like characters with more animal features than human. (Katt from Breath of Fire 2, but not InuYasha)
fs - "furry" sex (sex with "furries")
gr - growth/enlargement of body parts (ie, breast/penis enhancement)
en - enhancement (powers)
That's all I can think of at the moment.
