Google is ur friend!!!! But let me point you into the right direction... What you need to do is downgrade you psp to 1.50 then upgrade it to 3.71 m33-2 (thats the newest custom firmware right now)

Here is a guide to downgrade from 3.50 firmware and below.. You need Lumines UMD game (this is the one i did):
http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2470

Here is a guide to install 3.52 m33-4 custom firmware... You need 1.50 firmware to install this (this is the same guide and files i used):
http://www.stylemo.com/2007/09/14/how-to-install-352-m33-4-on-your-psp/

Here is a guide to install 3.71 m33 update... You need 3.52 m33-3/m33-4 or 3.60 m33 already installed to intall this:
http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3662

Edit: After checking that link its missing the 3.71 m33-2 + 1.50 Kernel patch (Kernel patch is for fat psp only)... So you need 3.71 m33 to install these patches here is the guide:
http://exophase.com/psp/dark_alex-releases-371-m33-2-150-kernel-add-on-v2-2133.htm

If your so unlucky to have a psp passed 3.50 your going to need a pandoras battery... You need a extra battery to make this because after you have hacked you battery it can only be used to downgrade/unbrick psp, therefore you CAN NOT use it to play games with after.... Also You cannot make it without a already hacked psp which sucks... Here is the guide:
http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-hardware-guides/20964-pandora-battery-guide-noobs.html

Here is a guide if you have a psp slim... You need a pandoras battery and a fat hacked psp:

After finding that last one i realized it has guides for just about everything in that post... oh well extra guides is always a good thing :D

Well i hope this i a good enough point in the right direction... Good Luck & Happy Moddin... oh and just so you know, if you somehow **** up and briick your psp... The pandoras battery can unbrick it for you so you wont be completely screwed... i have haved hacked so far 4 psp all successful... Just make sure ur battery is full, the psp is plugged in and you dont turn the the ****in psp off when its installing!!! Good Luck Again :D
