Naruto is one of the most popular animes in the world and it is surely a favorite here on AnimeSynergy. There are has been a few Naruto games on the ps2, gamecube and psp but this is by far the best. This adventure game follows the first 80 episodes of the anime. For those of you who don’t remember the 80th episode is just after Orochimaru defeated the 3rd Hokage.
You start of the adventure mode playing as Naruto, whose aim is to win the love of the citizens of Konoha because most of them blame him for the death of the 4th Hokage. The game starts of pretty slow but don’t be discourage, after about an hour or so things really start getting interesting.
Gameplay
There are 2 modes to choose from, the story mode or the fighting mode. In the fighting mode you choose a character and battle the other characters. The fighting in Rise of a Ninja is similar to other Naruto fighting games. It’s easy to pick up and play, the combos and jutsus are easy to pull off. It’s nowhere as deep as Tekken or Virtua fighter. There are only 11 playable characters, they come with about 12 combos and around 3 jutsu. When performing a jutsu a kinda mini game is started which has both attacker and defender competing to determine the amount of damage dealt from the attack. Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu creates numerous copies of our hero, which then assault the enemy. As each clone attacks, a button command appears on screen. This determines which strikes land and which miss. Get a perfect series of hits and you deal some serious damage to a foe.
Final thoughts
This game is a must play for Naruto fans, and If you’re not a fan of the series this is still a game I recommend you play. I’m definitely bringing this game to our next trading day. Once you get past the first hour in the adventure mode you will really start to enjoy the game.
