Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

First let me say this is a must play game for people who love first person shooters. Normally the Call of Duty series is set in some world war 2 era but this time your in the middle east. I guess the game developers realized what I have realized for quite some time now that world war 2 games are played out. So this time around call of Duty is set in the modern day era hence the name Modern Warfare.
The only negative thing about this game is that it is very short, vertarans of FPS can finish the game in under 5 hours. Don't let the short single player campaign dissuade you from picking up this game up because what it lacks in quantity it makes it up quality. The game tells the story of 2 soldiers a British SAS operative and a US Marine. Most of the game is as frantic and exciting as the first part of Saving Private Ryan. The gun battles make you feel like your actually in the middle of a war, i cant remember the last FPS that made me feel this way.
The action is pretty straight forward you have a compass just like in previous COD games that tells you exactly where to go. But don't think you can just walk from point A to B and killing everything in your way like Rambo. You have to move from building to building, cover to cover while taking out enemies. At the same time the enemies will be tossing grenades at you to force you from your cover position while sending some of their squad mates to try and flank you. This is realest war game I have ever played.
Of course this wouldn't be a COD game if it didn't have great multiplayer. Up to 18 players can play online on 16 different maps. Many of these maps are taken from the single player campaign. The game has around 6 mulitplayer modes that you can chose, standard deathmatch, capturing control points and the rest are objective based. If you managed to get 3 kills without dying you are able to call a UAV drone what this basically does it shows enemy positions for 30 seconds so you know where they are and stratigize on how to take them out. if you can get 5 kills without dying you can call in an air strike and unleash it anywhere on the map. If you somehow manage to get 7 kills without dying you can call in a helicopter to provide air support. This helicopter circles the map and shoots and kills your enemies, but be warned the helicopter can be shot down. As you play multiplayer you get experience points that goes to your ranking. the higher your rank the more content you will unlock.
As I mentioned before the only problem with this game is that it is too short. The single player campaign is great and the multiplayer is awesome. the only reason why u shouldn't play this game is if your not a fan of FPS, otherwise this is a must buy whether on PC, Xbox 360 or PS3.
