After reviewing the statistics and flow of things on the website over the past few months (since animesynergy version 3) I've come to 1 conclusion. the gallery will be 1. closed down or 2 removed from the site.

The gallery is a magnet for people that are apparently only interested in ecchi and hentai. Not that synergy doesn't extend greetings to those people but. conversation has been shot to hell. Postwhoring have become a problem moderators are tired of it. I'm annoyed of seeing it. I think we need to focus on forum usage (conversation / discussions) as that is the core of synergy.


as an alternative i may actually split the user base.. and create a hentai / ecchi website with only a gallery with commenting capabilities.

i think to rebuild conversations about anime, there should be another event..maybe trading day and have about 5-10 animes featured that everyone should have at the end of the day.

i like the idea of letting the events stay for promotion. maybe we should have a synergy general meeting after management has their's. see what we can come up with.

can we make it so that it becomes a poll to see if we grant a noob accesss to the gallery or can it be that a noob has to have a reference to enroll to anime synergy in the first place...................but personally i dont even use the gallery anymore so you can shut it down for all i care, but wont that just make the new noobs migrate to the arcade section, casue when i saw contra in the game line up, i almost died

yeah, leave all AS events related images and move everything 2 somewhere else, get rid of gallery noobs

henderson and shini are on point. only galleries that i'ld move are hentai and ecchi gallery. would make another gallery which is totally disjoined from the synergy userbase. for those members.

and henderson you are absolutely correct. there are many anime watchers in jamaica who aren't on the site yet so promotion is necessaary. Recomend mediums if you know any. we've made it this far off word of mouth and google searches alone.

After seeing the lastest postwhorer.. I propose that after we delete that gallery, that we do a massive cleanup and get rid of those postwhoring posts... its an eyesore.

Wow... this is a move i certainly wasn't expecting anytime soon. OK well if the mods are having a problem with it then i say get rid of it then. We are an anime/manga discussion board, not a hentai/ecchi archive.

Go for it, why not get rid of it. If everyone, especially mods, i guess, Are tired of random people just making posts to see the forum then why not disconnect it from these forums. Make it somewhere else so that everyone can go there to see it. I'm new, so as far as people posting for no gd reason isn't to evident right now.

Anyways. I'd say here are some options (my opinion)

Remove Ecchi and Hentai completely. Make the number of posts to see those over 100 valid posts (mods delete invalid posts). Make the availability of those galleries dependent on permissions from voting. Dependent on input and voting from other members. Make it mandatory for n00bs to post their intro and have it reviewed by others before granting membership (ability to post anywehere else). After such post is validated, the n00b will be monitored for their next 10-30 posts and how valid their input is. Dependent on that (and member votes) they get access.
Anywho, it matters not to me. I just wish there was an easier way to upload to the gallery. I have about 2GB of anime pics that I wouldn't mind uploading. FTP access? Hmm...There's a thought. FTP (read only to other folders, write access to your home folder) access granted to those sections only to members who are validated.

Just throwing around some thoughts.

Well Im all for what you said.. but DK is kinda against the 100 posts.. he thinks it might discourage people.
But I like those ideas.. but I think we still getting rid of the Hentai gallery...

But talk to DK if there is a way for you mass upload your images.

i kinda like the permission system thats in place now..but its just that some don't stop to read and end up whoring the forums with nothing but trash. but to prevent the filth it seems as if the porn section just has to go. and then now if it continues other measures will have to be put in place

I realize that when they signing up, there's a note that says they need 20 posts in order to access the gallery... but it does say that if they try to quick post, they will get their posts deleted and possible banning... so i guess them playing with themselves is worth the risk of being banned. I love his. the 100 seems like a lot tho... but i love the whole review for membership thing. kinda make us like a club.. some eclusivity. (is that a word :dunno) I'll mull this over a bit and think of implementation.

Thanx. If the 100 seems like a lot, just make it mandatory that the posts of a n00b is reviewed after X amount of posts. Then we decide in a poll or forum whether or not the n00b is let in.

I dont mind the 100 at all.. discourage them further.... but i still would say delete that gallery... unless unnu want it.

i like ecchi so i would rather it remain to be honest.. but not at the cost of spamming.

so like how there are sections that are hidden on the forum can't the ecchi and the other one be hidden as well?? so that ppl passing won't come across it until we as members determine if they are apart of us or just spammers looking for a thrill

I think we should not display it on the home page.. and yes i know that the home page shows all sections of the gallery.. but it only show whats updates recently... which are those pics.

as one of those people you're trying to avoid, i can honestly say i originally came here for the gallery. but after browsing the site some, i'm actually glad i was forced to register and post and go through hoops to see the pictures i want to. it makes it more rewarding, you know? plus this site is like a community. you gotta work for it!

And this community has been suffering because people like you, who just want to view pictures, think that posting 20 stupid posts all at once is working for it.

Because at the moment, there are links of this site plastered all over the first Google and Yahoo pages when you image search "ecchi".

yeh. I've been analyzing our search terms and ecchi really ranks up there. I'm contemplating opening up the gallery completely which would basically please everybody.. in some sense.. and lock the image galleries with member pics to people that actually participate. so ecchi and other general wallpapers would be free to viewers to see..

why is ecchi so popular then people behave that they dont watch porn

ecchi is not porn based off how u guys describe it. its like a soap opera, u know like charmed. something away from all the violence thats in the rest.

Ecchi = almost see boobs, panty flash, boobs in face, boy and girl in akward position then lotsa blushing then jump away from each other.

Hentai = see full-on boobs and everything else and what goes on between the guy and girl and everyone else.

maybe we can try one idea at a time? eg. do the 100post idea and see the effect. if it's not good enough, try the "recommendation-from-a-mod" idea,and so on.... and we must set a point that divide "not a good results" and "a good results"


but that would take a lot of time though...

or pool in 10-30 ideas and randomly choose 10 of them, then from there, choose 3 of those ideas, then from those 3, randomly choose 1. and use that 1 to fight against the post-whore-er.

my humblle apologies. the 100 post has been working fairly well.. the gallery craze has apparently died down.. people that are joining seem to be joining with participation on their mind.. so i guess all is well for the moment.

I guess you're considering closing the hentai and ecchi gallery due to it's attraction to the wrong sort, but is it really necessary? I like it when anime galleries have variety of all sorts. though many may disagree with me to keep the adult section, I still think it's nice to see the openness to the genre.
