Here I lay, bleeding, armour tarnished, with my head on the ground,
When the trumpet in the distance finally sounds. I never thought it could happen to me, The mighty warrior with countless victories.
I was loved and feared, the mightiest blade in all the land,
How many countless hearts have yielded before my very hand?
How many casualties had I caused, a hundred, 200, more?
Capturing hearts left and right, sometimes by the score,
And yet my heart remained in place behind my armour safe and sound,
Until the day I faced you in battle and how quickly my heart you found.
Your skills were far above my own, your blade twice as sharp,
Our swords clashed and were to me the sounding of heavenly harps,
Minutes later I was bleeding on the ground without a heart.
My armour though so strong to your blade it lost the test,
You cut deftly, deeply beneath the skin as you reached into my chest.
.... And I was happy at my defeat, smiling to the gods above,
As I lay bleeding, armour tarnished, on this battlefield called love.
