WARNING - MILD SPOILERS
Beautiful anime IMO. Very nice story. If you're one for sci-fi and robots/cybernetics then you'll love this and how the story develops. There are lots of scenes of humor, and a balance is attempted between the sad scenes and the funny ones as they try to bring your spirits back up from the more heart-rending moments.
The main villain of the story is revealed as somewhat of a shocker, and the reasons behind the villainy leaves some sypathy after you get to know the back-story. It teaches that we should not live on the past but count the blessings we have in the here and now.
I never did like some of the turnouts, and though the developments were good, and the ending (please remember to watch pass the credits) was beautiful, whether you saw it to the actual end or not (pass credits or not), and was not sad as were some other Anime endings that I've seen.
The jokes are there, from actual comical scenery to extreme happenings to make your jaw drop to the ground. Watch the first episode and you'll see what I'm talking about. LAUNCH!!! Hehe.
I'd have given this anime a better score if they didn't mess around with some of the things to my dislike, and the fact that after you got some back-story they started jumping into additional episodes which didn't really link into the previous ones. Though this was annoying you'd still have to watch them, since they tied more back-story information and character relationship development into it.
All in all, Solty Rei was beautiful - and a tear-jerker for those who either cry or get tears in their eyes from scenes in their anime. The soundtrack fit to each scenario, but wasn't one that I enjoyed by itself much - granted I loved the ending theme. Others may like the soundtrack or different songs in it depending on their taste. Give it a watch and post your opinions on it as well.
