The relationship between the 2 is actually very similar.. did you realize that. life time rivals destined to fight against each other kind of thing. in the mk vs street fighter thing i understand why akuma saved ryu and not ken. its to simulate a vegita goku relationship. nobody else should kill goku except for vegita. in that same regard akuma didn't want scorpion to kill ryu , because the honor of doing it belonged to him.
