So i have been scanning through older chapters of the naruto manga. And i began to realize something about the Akatsuki leader and have come to a conclusion, that i think is actually very plausible.

The Akatsuki Leader more than likely is Uchiha Madara.

You may be asking how i came to this conclusion but its actually quite simple. First of all, if its one thing kishimoto has always done, he has kept his characters consistent. In that, all aburame clan members look the same, all hyuuga members look the same, Ino's family (cant remember family name), looks the same... ALL the clans share the same characteristics.
Now With that in mind lets focus on the image we have seen so far of the akatsuki leader.

We all know that this isn't Itachi, but yet he does look quite similar to Itachi so much so i am sure alot of you saw this at first and said this must be Itachi.

If you focus on the eyes, you will see that they seem to standout alot in this image (not saying that we definately know the leader has the sharingan [well for my theory we are saying that anyway], but it seems like the focus was meant to be placed on the eyes). Therefore that this person shares Itachi's looks it is safe to assume that he is related to Itachi and is therefore a uchiha and has sharingan.

We know that Itachi killed all the Uchiha residing in Konoha, but nothing was said of Uchiha living outside of Konoha, and we also can assume that him killing all his family was needed for the initiation into akatsuki (he joined akatsuki shortly after killing everybody), so why would they request that he kill his entire clan unless they have a grudge against them. So i am theorizing that Madara (being the evil bastard he was), was kicked out of the uchiha clan, so his way to have revenge was to make Itachi murder them all, so that he could join up with his group the Akatsuki.

The reason why Madara stands out as the probable leader is this, first of all he is known by Kyuubi. He is known by Kyuubi because he was the first uchiha to be able to suppress Kyuubi's chakra, seeing as he could do this and sasuke can also do it (they are the only two people so far who we know have the ability to do so, not even Itachi seems to be able to do it)he would also be known by Orochimaru, henceforth Orochimaru teaching Sasuke to suppress the chakra.

It is possible that since Orochimaru was once an akatsuki member and probably one of the founding members as well, he and Madara would've been close and probably shared secrets and jutsu's, and Orochimaru knowing that there is a way to suppress the Kyuubi's chakra but only if you have the sharingan, would've taught it to sasuke so that sasuke wont die in a face off with naruto (if naruto went to 4 tails mode), therefore keeping him alive so that he can take over his body.

So i think you guys should by now see where i am going with this. The Akatsuki leader has to be somebody who is highly evil and also really powerful, and somebody who fits that bill is Uchiha Madara as said by the Kyuubi in their most recent face off....

so wat r your thoughts on my theory?

not that bad.. its not the typical half baked akatsuki theory that i'm used to hearing, and sounds every plausible as well. Everything is linked through the points (not necessarily facts) shown in the manga, which is why this will remain just a theory in my book. kishimoto still has the freedom to swing this story anyway we like.

The age old question of the fourth being the leader of akatsuki still interests me however. reason he is still such an important character in the anime even though we've never see n him do anything but say.. "when i am in position throw all your kunai's in the air" in the kakashi gaiden chapters of the manga.

i dont think madara would have a grudge against the uchiha though cause there is no way they would throw him out..based on the statues set up in the valley where Naruto and Sasuke fought it was shown that Madara and the 1st had a battle and Madara prolly won and left.
dont think he was banished from the village or the clan for being evil. but yeah Madara could be the leader, who else would Itachi listen to if he can pwn all and only those who inherit the Uchiha bloodline can beat him

the leader was the one looking out the window at the top right?? his hair looks fourthish to me :dunno.

d00d... his hair is orange, where u get fourthish from? Remember only the fourth and naruto have yellow hair, whereas only the akatsuki leader we see with orange hair

edit: deadara also has yellow hair. Remember we can look at this as official colouring for the akatsuki members, cuz it was done by kish himself

i would think that they want them so they can be sealed...i know i seen the akatsuki leader present at Gaara's sealing so he does know about the whole business of human sacrifice. maybe thats what the team is all about...the assembling of the strongest fighters so as to capture the tailed demons

Its highly unlikely that the akatsuki want the tailed beasts because, all though there were 9 beasts there were also 10 akatsuki members... (in the beginning, when orochimaru was there)...

then what sense would i make gathering them..could it be to rid the world of their evil deeds. they basically want the power for themselves and it must be a reason why the leader set that as the objective

my theory is that it is all apart of orochimaru's plan... he learn't about akatsuki's intentions and based on what he found out he created a plan to get alll the power for himself, and to do that he had o leave akatsuki. and knowing his influence in the village it would be easy to use simple minded ninjas to do his bidding.example mizuki in ep one ( the teacher with the big throwing stars on his back)

What they will probably do, is summon an all powerful youma or something, a 10 tails... one that pwns all the others. And will be totally under their control unlike the other youmas who are not really under control but are under a little manners.

If it was that they were going to share the power, it would be shared unevenly, which means some ppl would've still been weak, nobody would fight knowing that so there must be a reason why... cho mi nuh know, i doubt is to split the power though
