I cannot believe this section is so empty. Nobody but me plays fps's?!?!?!?

ok let me start it off simply. Quake four is haaarddddd, not hard as in challenging, but hard as in wiickeedddd. Gfx nice and sound effects and da weapons... man wat a wicked piece a game. Am i the only person with it or anybody else play it and want to say anything about it?

quake 4 is crap reason being, yes the graphics are excellent but hte gameplay is just like most other fps out there u move from room to room killin stuff till u end the level kinda like duke nukem 3d. and the story sucks, if u want to talk about fps talk about call of duty, brothers in arms and half life 2

Ok lemme first say, i didnt mean to say quake 4 is a great fps in that its game of the year material or run out and get this asap. I meant compared to quake 3 and other fps's of this type released this year (straight run n gun fps's that is, not things like call of duty brothers in arms and half life 2 as u stated) its an excellent game

Ok, what makes an fps a great fps.

First and most importantly in my opinion is A.I. For people who cant be bothered to go online and play against human opponents they need a proper ai to play against. Computer running at you and strafing from right to left is not proper ai. Computer running at you, realizing you have a better gun and running away to get a better gun, or switching to a better gun or learning your abilities while you are playing is great ai. Computer hiding behind creates and giving you sneak attacks is great ai. Unfortunately Quake 4 doesnt have all of that (at least as much as half life 2 but thats not the point of the discussion). But Quake 4's ai is acceptable, and can provide somewhat of a challenge.

Great levels - For an fps like Quake 4 you expect detailed levels with lots of areas where you can run and hide if your under heavy fire, and also theme based levels are also fun. If you are in a castle you dont expect to have 2 miles of strafing room and if you are in the savannah dont expect lots of places to hide behind and things to block uncoming enemy fire. Quake 4 has some decent levels, it sticks to quakes theme from before which has seemingly been helping them.

Great character designs - Ok quakes characters arent original and the actually suck alot they are just bland and there are no female character modles (except for a strogg one), but yet u hear them occasionally

Weaponry - Especially in a game like this (straight run n gun) you want a wide range of weapons that do different things and also you want the designs to be good and not hog up half the screen and look excellent. Quake has a nice array of weapons although most are repeats why spoil a nice formula

um... there are other things, but i cant bother to type anymore. Quake is an ok game, it isnt top of the class and it isnt bottom either, thats y i said it was a great game

The story does suck btw... and i mean suck royal ass, i mean major ass, i mean ass u wouldnt even believe

straight run and gun games get borin like after 1 hr of play (against AI), even playin online just runnin and gunnin gets boring after a while. even when u play team deathmatch in quake 4 it just feel i like a bunch of uncordinated guys runnin up and down. thats why counterstrike is so much fun when ur on a team that is well cordinated.

the unreal tournament games are better than the quake games, does quake 4 have vehicles that the latest unreal tournament has? u get a better playin experience with unreal tournaments compared to all the quakes.

i have a high standard for gamin since i have been playin games for so long i dont have time to play crap, i want the best of the best like half life 2 and CS when my team is coordinated.

have u guys played the unreal championship 2 for xbox online, it has melee combat. every character has there own weapons and finishin moves like in mortal kombat.

when will ID software realise that graphics isn't every thing

Is there a server i can join the war... now that i have high speed i wouldn't mind putting u bitches to R.I.Pieces
