The manga is still ongoing and incomplete (maybe soon kill Naraku now). The anime is complete, and ends with them still journeying for shards and Naraku.

Nope. Naraku has many incarnations, and as far as the manga goes he is still alive. He is a full demon and has purged himself of his human counterpart. Very hard to kill, and in the anime and manga it is shown that Naraku has unlimited potential for growth. Trouble is that he can still be beat by Sesshomaru, because the dude is just that hard. Inuyasha on the other hand, cannot use the Tetsusaiga to it's fullest, and if Sesshomaru ever got a hold of it while fighting Naraku, then the anime/manga would be finished a long time ago.
